The product of a mega-merger, CMS has bundles of potential in departments such as real estate and also more niche areas such as media law and private client. The size of the firm has allowed for a great breadth of work which should interest any lawyer-to-be. The merger also allowed the firm to revamp its IT service by offering Surface Pro laptops to all fee earners and this gives rise to everything a millennial trainee is looking for, namely flexible and efficient working. The atmosphere around the office is said to be rather collegiate especially given the fact that most of the workforce hadn’t met one another until 2017. Overall, I’d say the firm is a pretty exciting place to work. CMS has a substantial global offering with 74 offices worldwide, 7 of which are in the U.K. … not to mention one in Manchester (watch this space for an exclusive office tour later this year!).

This firm is all things modern. Further to that, CMS do crazy well on diversity and inclusion especially on the inclusion and promotion of women into senior roles. 61% of CMS’ U.K. associates are female which is incredible in a historically unrepresentative industry. In addition, the expectation to work is not ridiculous either. It’s commonplace for lawyers to have social commitments out of work and this is in fact encouraged as it is thought to be more rounding for CMS’ employees.
